Have you ever stopped to think about what your profile picture says about you when you put it up online? Pictures tend to be a good thing even if you keep them in the private gallery, but your first impression is heavily dependent on your profile picture so you want to make sure that you’re doing things right. So how can you make sure that you’re doing the right thing with your profile picture?
Generally you’re going to want to keep the nudity to a minimum. We’re very interested in what your body looks like, but it can be distracting. Keep things PG for your profile picture as some people who would love to see you naked can also be incredibly put off when that’s what you’ve got that as a profile picture. The same goes for shots that are just of your chest (be you male or female). We are going to want to see how you look, don’t get us wrong but for the profile picture you want to see something that is a little less generic. Boobs are fantastic! We love them, but we’ve probably seen quite a few boobs and would like to see your face or at least get a general idea of what you look like.
You’re also going to want to not use pictures where there’s someone else in them. If you have too many people in the photo it makes it a guessing game as to which one you are. That’s not what you want for your main picture when you’re looking for an affair. You want to keep things simple. Remember that most of the time these photos will be either cropped or resized down to thumbnails so you want something that is both simple and flattering.
While a shot of your face would be best, we can understand that you want to be discreet so if you don’t want to put a face shot then don’t think that you have to. Keep in mind though that even a face shot where the eyes are blanked out will get you more than a generic photo where they’ve seen that pose and those abs a million times before. You want something that looks unique but also shows who you are.
This, however, does not mean goofy. We’ve all seen the goofier photos where someone is doing something crazy and while it looks like they’re having fun it can be strangely off-putting. Yes, it’s nice that you’re quirky and you would probably make for a very interesting affair partner but we want to see what your face looks like when you’re not contorting it in a weird way or being chased by a dinosaur. We would also class things like a yoga pose or Halloween photos under the goofy label. People want to see what you look like or at least get a decent idea of it from your main picture. You can save the pictures that show off your personality or interests for the secondary photos, but for the main ones you’re going to want to keep it simple and keep it classy.
To summarize what you should (and shouldn’t) be putting in your main photo…
1) Don’t just show your ass(ets).
2) Don’t have other people in the focus of the photo.
3) Remember that the photos are going to be smaller when people first see them.
4) Don’t have a main photo where you’re doing something stupid/weird/funny.
